Most of us know Rebecca Brodsky, the Berlin nightclub owner from the now-defunct Larry Club, which brought anti-cocktail flare to upscale Mitte. Now, Brodsky is at it again with her new venue, Barry Bar, which celebrates her birthday with a huge bash on December 1. But techno-heads beware: This bar is for retro nerds, and the spirit that Brodsky is channeling is somewhere between Old Hollywood glam and Studio 54. “There ain’t no ‘place to be’ anymore,” Brodsky tells me. “And by that, I mean a place that combines celebrities, Berliners, visitors, old and young guests.” This new bar and dancing spot will have a rock and 1970s New York disco vibe: “I only play the music that I really like,” she says. “That means anti-techno, I want my costumers to dance like it is 1973.” If you’re in the neighborhood, check out Barry Bar at Rosa-Luxemburg-Straße 20, 10178, Berlin. And here are some photos of the new polished space below. Don’t forget to order a dirty martini.
