Art: Street Mythology By Street Artist Blemobill

jVassilis Papademetriou also known as “Blemobill” is a multi-talented Greek artist. I have known him for several years and he is a really cool and interesting guy. He explains a little bit more about himself:

“I was born in 1983 in Veria, a small town near Thessaloniki. I started painting from a very young age and I soon realized that through painting I am able to feel completely free and happy. Once I tried to study Landscape Architecture I realized that I do not fit anywhere else but in art. I practiced the art of poetry and since then I like to create pieces of art with poetic disposition combining poetry with painting. As a street artist, I enjoy creating works that give the urban landscape a bright and optimistic mood to contain an idea with my basic pursuit to uplift the psyche of the viewer. Lately I have been resetting in the streets of decadent Greece images of a period of great prosperity that is the ancient history of Greece. So in a symbolic way the ancient gods are being restored in modern Greece like good omens in these times of difficulties through which we are going now.”

So when he is not exposing his paintings, Blemobill makes artistic interventions in the streets and fills Athens with sketches of various deities, among which his beloved is goddess Athena. Take a look at his street art creations through the following video. (Song by super talented Greek musician Adam Virgo)
