Look out Berlin, doom is upon you! The Hamburg Underground D.I.Y. Doom Festival takes over Kreuzberg this Thursday with its twin festival Dronenberg. SO36 will be the host of the festival’s 5th edition, with no less than seven bands performing in several areas, alongside art installations by the Triumph Of Death collective, poster exhibit by Sebastian Feld, the illustrator from Dronenburg/berg Koloss Skateboards and other nice art that goes well with doom, noise and drone. There will also be a live set by Aidan Baker – one half of Nadia in the SO36 Cafe. Don’t miss out!
You’re in for a treat, as the line-up sounds pretty consistent. The night will start with local bands Zerum (Berlin) and UR (Dresden) who are also the first names on the Dronenburg label roster. They will be followed by The Moth (Hamburg), and Shakhtyor, who are just getting ready to release their new album Tunguska. Here’s the first track released from the album, out on April 24th.
Up next are French darkness lovers Celeste, who have just started their European spring tour and are finally making their way to Berlin. If you’re a fan you probably know by now what a special clar-obscuro performance theirs is, and if not, here’s a taste.
