After almost 3 years since their latest album, Hercules & Love Affair are finally back this July with a new album, which will be released on Big Beat Records at an undetermined date. And while there’s not much known about the album itself, Andy Butler gave away some hints:
“The new album is a lot about spirituality. Faris was happy to engage with that. He went into the recording booth, would come out with something, and I’d say, ‘Did you just sing, ‘I love what you’re making me do’?’ He’d say, ‘No, but that sounds cool.’ That’s how the song was made, it unfolded out of an unconscious process. It’s about being used by a higher entity but there’s this second layer which is a play on intense sub-dom sexual roleplay!”
The first single from the forthcoming album is “Controller” for which they collaborated with Faris Badwan (from The Horrors and Cat’s Eyes) whose luring vocals make the perfect pair for the lush and eerie video directed by Rei Nadal.
They’re playing a series of shows around Europe these coming months, and Berlin is one them, hosted by Schwuz on May 18th, for which we are giving away 2 guestlist spots, and all you need to do is send an email to email@example.com with your name and your favorite Hercules & Love Affair song. Good luck!
There’s also an aftershow party which you will probably don’t want to miss either, after the concert is over, where you will be entertained by Andy Butler, Rotciv, Justin Case and Open Mike (Pet Shop Bears).
