On April 13th, [aufnahme + wiedergabe] is back again at Urban Spree with a lineup that stands out as usual, promising a night of industrial, post-punk wave and more, delivered by Pure Ground and Luminance who are making their Berlin debut.
Pure Ground is an industrial minimal electronics duo formed in Los Angeles in the Spring of 2012. Making use of an assortment of analog and digital hardware, Pure Ground create hard electronics teaming with rhythmic white noise and unsettling melody as the backdrop over which the group explores lyrical themes of present-day dystopian realities, sleeplessness and the supernatural, and the eventual triumph of the natural world over a human civilization in rapid decline. Not limited to music composition, the band also makes forays into analog video work, much of which can be seen projected onto them during live performances and in album art. To date, Pure Ground has released three full-lengths and eight singles & EPs. The group is currently completing a split LP with Luminance for release in Spring 2018.
Born in Brussels in 2012, Luminance never ceased to explore unknown fields and new ways of conceiving dark synth music. Modelling poignant melodies dancing on sharp electronic beats, the tone is sometimes harsh and straight , sometimes soft and cold, exploring melancholy through electricity to bring the listener as far as possible from reality. Constantly pushing the codes and limits of the genres away , Luminance progressively draws an infinite cartography of synthetic music and ethereal worlds .
