It’s safe to say that we’re somewhere between pissing ourselves with excitement and ready to implode with exhilaration, knowing that next thursday we will finally get to see Rustie play live in the former stables turned club Gretchen.
His catalogue may date back to 2008, but it was effectively the release of his groundbreaking album Glass Swords on Warp that put he baby-faced Scottish producer’s name on the map. His high-energy music combines elements of trap, dubstep and pop, all geled together with ultra-precise production and an unabashed maximal edge, which led to people coining ridiculous genre names, like lazer hip-hop or aqua-crunk, when writing about his work.
Last year saw the release of his long-awaited second album Green Language, which saw Rustie collaborate with D Double E, Gorgeous Children, Redinho and once again, Danny Brown.
