Berlin’s Funkhaus Studios is fast becoming one of the best venues in Berlin for live music. Over the past year, the former DDR Radio studios have played host to a number of high profile gigs including LCD Soundsystem, Ben Frost, Clark and most recently Ableton’s Loop summit.
This Saturday, the big guns are coming out again with a triple bill featuring Actress, The Field and Photay.
Actress was back in full form this year with the superbly abstracted techno of his fifth studio album AZD. At Funkhaus, we will treated to the London artist’s new live AV. Expectations are high.
Electronic music doesn’t get much better than The Field‘s debut album From Here We Go Sublime. The Swedish artist is one of the most singular artists from the wider Kompakt family, having released five albums on the Köln label. The Field builds intensely emotional tracks out of micro samples, seemingly able to bring any sound into the realms of the sublime. This will be his only live performance in Berlin this year.
Fresh from the release of his Onism album, New-Yorker Photay debuts in Berlin on Saturday with a live set full of polyrhythms, a balancing act of analog and digital, of natural and synthetic.
