The japanese instrument & studio equipment manufacturer Roland is famous for building the most innovative & solid machines since the early 70’s. Since then they delivered groundbreaking drum computers (TR-909), effect units (Space Echo) and synths (Juno 6) which helped to invent whole new music genre’s and are still found in studios all over the world while being worth up to 10 times as their original retailer price.

I BELIEVE THAT THE MACHINE CAN COPY YOU, I CAN COPY THE MACHINE, THE MACHINE CAN COPY ME. I CAN LIVE IN THE MACHINE, THE MACHINE CAN LIFE IN I AND THAT’S IT. A FEELING LOOP.

Lee »Scratch« Perry

The Telekom/Electronic Beats-sponsored project ‘R Is For Roland‘ is a new book curated by the synth enthusiasts Michal Matlak & Florian Anwander with photos by Tabita Hub. It will be released in a super limited edition of 2000 units and includes interviews, quotes and beautiful photos of selected machines from 1973-1987.
