You could think you’re listening to a new-wave band from the 80’s – but The Aikiu are definitely a band from today. Alex, Julien and Barnabé (Isabelle Adjani‘s son – I don’t mention it to speak about fils de‘s successes, but to try to explain why he looks so great) formed their band in 2010 and released while they were at it their first single Just Can’t Sleep, produced by Pilooski from Discodeine. They shared with us their track The Red Kiss some months later, confirming the influence of The Cure, New Order or Roxy Music on their creations. Their new album, Ghost Youth, was released two months ago, is produced by Guillaume Brière from The Shoes, and includes tracks with JD Samson from Le Tigre and…Isabelle Adjani.

Pieces of Gold‘s video was realized by Panteros666, the crazy guy from Club Cheval. There’s porn in it, but relax, it’s safe for work!

The Red Kiss, my favorite one, remixed by Brodinski and The Magician:

And, finally, an edit of Just Can’t Sleep by their friends of The Shoes:
