Festivals: Berlin Festival 2012

For its eighth edition from 7th to 8th September 2012, Berlin Festival is thrilled to announce a smashing line-up including Sigur Rós, Franz Ferdinand, Orbital, Paul Kalkbrenner and many more. Once again, the Art Village will be home to national and international artists presenting their work, and the world’s biggest Silent Arena Aftershowparty premiers at Tempelhof Airport this year.

Icelandic band Sigur Rós will present new songs off their eighth studio album at their only performance in Germany 2012. Franz Ferdinand announced along with their fourth studio album to be released in late 2012, an exclusive live performance at Berlin Festival. His shows sell out quick, and his 2011 album Icke Wieder is a true chart-stormer. This year, Paul Kalkbrenner will make a memorable appearance at Tempelhof Airport. After their 2008 reunion, Britain’s legendary techno duo Orbital will also release and perform new material at Berlin Festival. In addition, the Berlin Festival organizers confirmed performances by the British band Friendly Fires, Metronomy, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, SBTRKT and German DJ duo Modeselektor.
