For the past 11 years, the !f Istanbul International Independant Film Festival has provided Turkey with the chance to see over 70 000 independants films from all over the world and allows emerging as well as famous directors to present their work to Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir cinephiles. !f Istanbul will take place between the 16th and the 26th of February.
‘!f Inspired‘, ‘People power‘, ‘!f Shorts‘ and ‘Rainbow Films’…the list of categories is long. They are new every year and reflect issues that embody the world’s imagination and present issues, like for instance the most awaited film ‘Tahrir 2011 : The God the Bad and the Politician‘.
In 2008, the !f also launched an International Film Competition to showcase films that are taking cinema to a new direction. The Most Inspired Director will win a prize of $ 15.000. The jury is composed of Turkish director Yeşim Ustaoğlu, Egyptian actor and producer Khaled Abol Naga, Toronto-based writer Andrea Picard, British chief film critic Mark Adams and American film director Jonathan Caouette, as well as several members of Turkey’s Film Critic Association.

In addition to the various screenings, a series of talks, workshop, concerts and exhibitions will be held in several clubs, galeries and cultural centers.
