Anything Maria is an artist that cannot be put into any boxes, more than just a producer, she is an eclectic, polymorphic experience. The alter-ego of Sophie Gonthier, AM, was born from countless sweaty nights delving through the nightclubs of Berlin, New York, Paris and Seattle. With a magnetic stage presence, paralleled by a strong and soulful yet melancholic and fragile voice, AM straddles the boundaries of rhythm and blues, pop and electronica.
A far cry from her humble beginnings in Aix-en-Provence, Gonthier has boasted collaborations on projects with Nan Goldin, Ernie Brooks of The Modern Lovers, Lee Ranaldo of Sonic Youth and supported Sabbath Assembly on their American tour.
Fresh off the back of her acclaimed The Bad Miss Show Live Club Tour of China and Europe as well as a string of singles, Anything Maria has just dropped her highly anticipated EP of remixes featuring reworks by WAEK, Disorder and Junkers no Junkies. The EP was launched at Paris-Paris with a line-up featuring the re-mixers and the Bad Miss herself, performing with her signature multi-faceted live, complete with a drummer and hypnotic light show.
With more upcoming shows in China and Europe, a new single and video scheduled for release in the fall, the music of Anything Maria is sure to keep the dance floors, living rooms and everywhere between pumping until the AM.
