Introducing: Half Baked Family

halfbakedbannerThe follow-up of Half Baked Records’ inaugural HB001 EP is dutifully presented in a two track composite of house and techno, by legends of the underground electronic scene and head of the label Cynosure and Haunt, Mike Shannon, featuring a flip side remix by Thomas Melchoir. The EP marks the second release of the label inspired by the infamous deep house monthly Sunday sessions of Half Baked.

First originating in London in 2009, the concept of Half Baked, and brainchild of Bruno Ciaramicoli and Remi Landaz, sought to share the passion for upcoming talents and deliver a “full music experience”, while operating as a family in an international perspective. The Half Baked Family (HBF) has hosted line-ups of some of the industries finest behind their decks, including Mike Huckaby, Thomas Melchior, Bruno Pronsato, doP, Guy Gerber, Onur Özur, Shaun Reeves, Mayaan Nidam, Anthony Collins, Margaret Dygas, and Delano Smith. Fitting to their international vision, Half Baked showcases have taken place in Amsterdam, Berlin, Barcelona, Brussels, Ibiza, Milano, Moscow, Miami, New York, Paris, Rome, Sardinia, Thessaloniki and Vienna.

Staying true to the Half Baked philosophy, the East-Side Slip EP delivers innovation and playfulness through great producers of the underground scene. An ode to their belief in physical persistency and a laud of the wax format the latest release, like its predecessor is released only on vinyl.
On the original cut, Canadian electronic maestro Mike Shannon, proves how he has become an expert in sending dancefloors into a frenzy. The jazzy deep house track is adorned with a haunting modulated bass line, crisp swingy drums and an eerie yet uplifting melody. It boast Shannon’s signature sound which has seen him become a revered selector and producer with albums on three of the industry’s most respected labels – Plus 8, Force Inc, ~Scape.
The B-side sees Thomas Melchior, under his moniker, Melchior Productions Ltd., take the reins to serve up an impeccably produced interpretation of Slip It. At 12 minutes, this entrancing minimal monster of a remix carves the original right to its core. What Melchior delivers is a trippy, simple and relentless handiwork, made to dance to.

To celebrate the release, Half Baked will host a Berlin showcase at the Club der Visionäre on the 31st of May. A real family affair, the event welcomes Seuil (Half Baked Rec/HoldYouth/ Eklo), Yakine (Half Baked Rec/ One Record/Spectral), Le Loup (Half Baked/HoldYouth), Rainer (Half Baked Rec/Desolat/Serialism), Rudolf (Birdsmakingmachine) and Robin & Greg.
To keep the good times rolling and continue the strive towards world domination, Half Baked, with friends of the family, La Funny Vie En Rouge and Lola ED will stage an already sold out showcase in Barcelona on June 13th, in the lead up to the intimate sunny garden party in the backyard of the ZT Hotel. A stellar line-up featuring Chris Carrier, Dan Ghenacia, Daze Maxim, Dyed Soundorom, Jef K, Julietta, Le loup, Nail, Rudolf and Yakine, promises to deliver a fully baked experience!
