The enigmatic Berlin figures Jon Dark and Julie Chance who connect the dots to make Kool Thing are back and with a bang. Having spent the last 6 months labouring away at their solo projects, ATMA and Under Tears respectively, their first venture reunited as Kool Thing is an eloquent mini epic, covering David Bowie’s 1976 Station to Station for the ‘RARE TRAX’ CD in May’s edition of Rolling Stone Germany.

In a succinct 5 minutes, Kool Thing valiantly managed to preserve the original’s structure and tighten it into their own symphonic saga.  Sonically directed by Eno inspired 70’s analogue synth sounds, Station to Station has been transformed into a somnambulist’s dance floor anthem. Entrancing to say the least, it salivates with spacious drums, leaving just enough room for the complex harmonies and emotional performances of vocals to draw out the essence of the song lyrically.

The cover for Rolling Stone is just a sneak peak of the fresh of breath air Kool Thing are promising after their hiatus. With a new EP in the works, dates will be popping up very soon, starting on 16th of May at the new SchwuZ in Berlin. We’ve got two free double passes up for grabs to catch the show!
