Curses is the moniker of long time bass enthusiast Luca Venezia, who you probably know from his venture as Drop The Lime. Nowadays the globetrotting DJ and producer spends his time between NY and Berlin, his recently adopted home. Production-wise it seems like he’s on a string of dark techno releases, infusing gritty and raw moods with his penchant for bass grooviness and a touch of occult romanticism. This is also the case of his first release of 2016, “Jetzt Oder Nie“. Today we have an exclusive listen of “Power of Darkness”. We also caught up with Luca to tell us a bit about all of the above, after the cut.
LSD: This is your first release for OFF. Can you tell us in a few words how you met Andre/decided to do a release for them? What’s the story/idea behind the EP title?
Berlin’s nightlife is very free. The “no camera” policies allow people to be completely free and uninhibited. This makes for a strong and diverse club scene.
LSD: What’s the most Berlin thing you’ve encountered here ?
Curses: Sex in public.
LSD: Present/future plans: what are you preparing for 2016?
Curses: Working on a lot of new music, and a new EP for OFF. I am also embracing meditation on a regular basis. Connecting with past and future romantic relics of time and sound.
OFF124 – Curses – “Jetzt Oder Nie” is out January 18th on OFF Recordings.
