Irish producer Will Kinsella returns to Dutch imprint Patterns Records (whose roster boasts the likes of Ben Sims, Mike Humphries and Joris Voorn) for his Talking Through Computers EP. A collection of tracks dating back to Kinsella’s time as a house engineer in the Temple Lane and Grouse Lodge studios in Ireland, Talking Through Computers is a mixed bag of tracks, which starts off with the rolling syncopation of Kongo, before moving onto the analog pitch shifting experiments of title track Talking Through Computers, and finishing things off with the steady roller Road To Coin, which we have the pleasure of premiering today.
Written en route to the picturesque town of Coin, the track kicks off in the bassy deep-end before being joined by shuffling hi hats and off-beat stabs which inject bounce and energy and drive the track through a path strewn with walls of noise and subtle percussion patterns. Nice and effective. Sidenote for the music geeks out there: the mastering work comes courtesy of fellow Irishman Matador.
