South Sweden’s boy Prins Emanuel is obviously quite a prodigious talent. 1/3 of vinyl imprints Fassan and Chalice, multi instrumentalist, drawing enthusiast, crate digger, and producer. He’s responsible for a string of free-minded records under multiple aliases. Ghoul Immanuel is for remixes and edits, Witch Doctor for the boogie and house productions, but mainly Prins Emanuel, his old DJ alias. Since he was young and got into music he has intensively explored the realms of dub, modern funk, and jazz and his works are generally intuitive and balanced between the edges of home listening and dance music.
Prins Emanuel’s latest effort comes on the fourth compilation of Munich based label Permanent Vacation. Permanent Vacation 4 arrives ten years on from the first instalment, the imprint’s very first release. This time round 12 tracks which focus on “the more beachy and sunny side of the dancefloor”. The collection includes tracks from Rush Hour’s Young Marco, slow-mo house specialist Suzanne Kraft, Huntleys & Palmers affiliates Hi & Saberhägen, Superconscious’ co-founder Fantastic Man, and Cleveland.
We’re happy to bring you Prins Emanuel’s cut from the release, Ivys Boogie, which fully measures up to the label’s description and provides a saucy jam of fine groove and funky guitars. Summer vibes are full on.
Permanent Vacation 4 will be available August 19th on CD, vinyl and digital formats.
