Big Deal might have become synonymous with the structurally sparse yet emotionally stinging guitar pop as showcased on their critically acclaimed debut ‘Lights Out‘, but get ready or a dramatic expansion of sound with their latest album ‘June Gloom’. The London based duo of Kacey Underwood and Alice Costelloe, aka Big Deal, are set to release the new album on Mute upcoming Friday/Monday! They answered our FAZE TIME while being in berlin for a promo trip.

Our names are Kacey Underwood and Alice Costelloe but you might know us as Big Deal.
We were born in California and London and grew up in houses made of tissue paper and saw dust.
In our childhood our idols were hidden in closets and under beds, because that’s the safest place!
We met in a crossfire hurricane at Alice’s doorstep and mind melded. In retrospect we should have thought about it a bit more but we decided to keep thinking to a minimum and feeling to a maximum. Like jellyfish.

Now we live in London with everyone else apparently.
We sometimes argue when we are hungry, but then Alice gets a snack and we’re ok.
We enjoy game of thrones and watch it a lot. We can spend hours watching game of thrones. One of our favorite places to visit is Berlin, because there’s so much space here and the people are great.

On weekdays we try and write new songs and on weekends we usually see bands play and smelly places filled with bad people.

We are very inspired by Manly P. Hall.
Our dream is to make things for the rest of our days.
Our worst nightmare be allowed to do nothing.
We love smiles from strangers, and hate glares from friends.
We get totally fucked up, when drinks are free.

Local Suicide reminds us of the fragility of life.

Tomorrow we won’t be in Berlin anymore.
Next month we will be all over the U.K.
Next year we will still be alive.
In 10 years we hope to still be best friends.

If we weren’t in a band together, we would be running a burrito van that also serves ice cream.
If our lives were a Hollywood movie, Sylvester Stalone and Bruce Willis would have the main roles, because they are badasses. If we were a car, we would be a jaloppe.
If we were an animal, we would be a Sphinx. Or a linx. Or a minx..
If we were a drug, we would be cheap.
If we were an invention, we would be reliable.
If we were an object, we would be a 7.
If we could date ourselves, we would know what its like to go on a date, and then we would tell our friends how into us we were.

If we had only one wish, it would be to be able to live half in America, half in London.

Our word of advice to the reader would be to try to enjoy life, even when it’ tough.
