Daniel Bortz started his career in Bavaria, Germany, where he grew up. He started djing and then released on the Munich label Pastamusik his first recording in 2007. Now he is well known for his deep house/disco magic. Find out more about him!
My name is Daniel Bortz but you might know me as Daniel Bortz. I was born in Berlin and grew up in Augsburg. When I was a child my idol was Prince, because he is one the greatest musicians of all time. When I was a kid, I started to realize that “brezeln” are very tasty. It was then when I realised that “obazda” is very tasty as well and decided to combine this and make “brezel with obazda” out of it. Since then I am the biggest fan of this dish.
One of my best gigs I played was a small club called Kucuk Otto in Istanbul in January 2012.It was so much fun because the Turkish crowd went totally crazy and they are very likeable people.
One of the best gigs I have been to was when I was 10 and attended a Run DMC concert in Berlin. I loved the performance and the light show.
Now I live in Augsburg with my cats “Rudi” and “Marta”. In my house you can find more then 3000 vinyl records and my refrigerator is usually full with cheese. I enjoy coffee without milk and cake a lot. I can spend hours with music. One of my favorite places to visit is my home, because it´s a fixed point in my busy tour schedule.
On weekdays I usually hangout and try to produce new tracks and on weekends I usually play gigs in several clubs all over the world.
My favorite song at the moment is Soul Clap – Let it Go. A film I watched lately and really liked was “Le dieu du carnage”. The last series I watched and loved was The Wire.
I am very inspired by daily life. My dream is to stay healthy. My worst nightmare is the early wake up call from my booking agent :).
I love my girlfriend and hate nothing (because its a very strong word).
I am addicted to delicious food, I just cannot stop working in an creative environment.
I get totally fucked up, when I see that my flight is cancelled.
Local Suicide reminds me of nothing yet.
Tomorrow I play my first gig in Italy. Next month I play my first in Brazil and North America. Next year I am one year older then this year. In 10 years I hope I am ten years older then this year.
My word of advice to the reader would be to Make love not war!
Enjoy his latest release on Berlin based Suol.
