The Italian producer, performer & sound designer Enrico Sangiuliano was creating noises and sounds from everyday objects since his early childhood, but it was in his teenage years he turned his attention to technology and started to learn how to make music on his computer at home in the 90’s. Later he spend years playing all over Italy, from small intimate venues to big outdoor raves until he finally put out his first release in 2009.
Since then he released on well-known labels such as Truesoul, Herzblut, Gem Records, Octopus Recordings and Rhythm Converted among others. In 2016 he put out his Drumcode-debut which catapulted him up to the techno-elite.
My name is Enrico but you might know me as Enrico Sangiuliano. I was born in Reggio Emilia, North Italy and grew up in the same paranoid area, then moved to Milan when I was 21 to discover the meaning of anxiety and rapid life system. When I was a child my idol was Mary The 3 Breasted Woman In ‘Total Recall’ movie, because I was hypnotized every single time. When I was a young dickhead, I started raving at early age to burn my brain as fast as possible. It was then when I realised that I was invincible and decided to start producing music to unlock my mind without the need of taking drugs. Since then I developed new neural connections and a third eye which is hidden behind my hair in the back of my head.
One of my best gigs I played was in my bedroom, I was probably 17. It was so much fun cause we where like 10 friends on a mad mood dancing and enjoying like it was a the last rave on Earth and the police came after many neighbours called them. That sound system I had in my room was huge. While smoking a 70 centimeters long joint on the balcony we also saw a group of young kids dancing in the parking in front of my house. One of the best gigs I have been to was cancelled. I loved the strong response and the unique and incandescent energy of the hotel. One of a kind.
Now I live in a bubble with the music. In my house you can find a lot of dangerously killer chili pepper and my refrigerator is usually full with greens and weed. I enjoy proper sex and pistacchio ice cream a lot. I can spend hours having both together. One of my favorite places to visit is the toilet, because of its magical energy. On weekdays I eat well, produce in the studio and sleep at night and on weekends I usually eat bad, play all over the globe and sleep later when on weekdays. My favorite song at the moment is Maribou State’s ‘Turnmills’ (Club Mix). A film I watched lately and really liked was “Loro”, an italian movie directed by Paolo Sorrentino about Silvio Berlusconi. The last series I watched and loved was BoJack Horseman. I am very inspired by our relationship with the nature and cosmic forces. My dream is to live with the music, thanks to the music. My worst nightmare is to lose the true passion. I love basil and hate coriander. I am addicted to psycho-physical wellbeing, I just cannot stop thinking about my forthcoming album “Biomorph” and about the related reactions. I get totally fucked up, when I play in Chile and drink the second pisco sour. The next day I need to drink at least another two.
Local Suicide reminds me of the last time i had a fight with my girlfriend, exactly after two pisco sours.
Tomorrow I bring my manager to a really nice restaurant in Milan. Next month I won’t be the same person anymore. Next year I‘ll be touring with a white horse. No more planes. In 10 years I hope to become a white horse and run through Mongolia prairies.
If I wasn’t a man, I would be a tree. If my life was a Hollywood movie, no one would have the main role, because my life is not a Hollywood movie luckily. If I could have sex with anyone, it would be Fujiko Mine. If I was a car, I would be a Cadillac Eldorado series IV, possibly black. If I was an animal, I would be a koala. If I was a drug I would be an Amanita Muscaria mushroom. If I was an invention, I would be the radio. If I was an object, I would be a key. If I could date myself, I ‘d wash my genitals accurately. If I could play with anyone it would be Bob Marley. I would like to collaborate with a sound design research center. If I had only one wish, it would be love and be loved. I would never make ghost production for anyone, because it’s not respectful for a producer who makes his music for real.
My word of advice to the reader would be to read and listen to my first concept LP which will be out on June 1st, and to let me know his thoughts.
