Hodini were planning to collaborate together since a long time but as Hodini aka Hulk Hodn is based in Cologne and Glenn Astro is living in Berlin they never really had the chance to spend enough time together in one place and do to the studio together properly. Says Glenn Astro talking about his new collaborative longplayer ‘Turquoise Tortoise‘ (order here) which is out via Apollo Recordings on Vinyl/Digital since April 27th, 2018. In the end they turned out producing tracks individually in their own studios and then piecing them back together in the end with the master plan in the back of their heads. The 14 track album features guests such as Max Graef (Bass on Malaysian Moped), knowsum (Vox on Malaysian Moped) and MC Pinty (Vox on ‘Beautiful Music’). Check out their answers to our silly LSD FAZE TIME interview feature and listen to the album megamix below!

PAST

Our names are Glenn Astro & Hodini and you might not know us but you might know us as Gerald Astor & Hulk Hodn. We were born in Kasachstan & Cologne and grew up in a small town nearby. In our childhood our idol was Mr. T, because of his chains and good advice.
We met in Berlin by accident at a Fluid Soul Party at Farbfernseher. In Berlin we decided to be Friends and hang out from time to time. Since then we started out hanging out here and there and play a few gigs together.

One of the best gigs we played was last year at Astro’s birthday. It was so much fun because Hodini had a few drinks too much and decided to experiment on his mixing skills

PRESENT

Now we live in Berlin & Cologne with our drum machines and stuff. We meet every now and then, when we are in each others city and hang out with the rest of the crew. We sometimes argue when we don’t know where to set start or end points on our samples, but then it doesn’t matter at all and good shit just happens… We enjoy Pho & Gözleme and eat those kind of dishes quite often. On weekdays we work and on weekends we usually work.

Our favorite songs at the moment are Willie Tee – Walking up a long way street & The Rah Band – Float. The last series we watched and loved was Rick & Morty.
Our worst nightmare  is being a blunt and getting smoked and we cant wake up (shouts to KRS One). We love love and hate hate. We are addicted to Gözleme, we just cannot stop eating it.

Local Suicide reminds us of that cool kid a few classes above who always seems to know all the cool bands and has all the hip CDs, but you’re too afraid to talk to him because he’s so older and much more popular than yourself.

FUTURE

Tomorrow we work. Next month we probably work. Next year we hopefully work a bit less. In 10 years we hope to cash in on all those Spotify plays.

HYPOTHESES

If we weren’t in music, we would be dentists. If we were a car, we would be a Golf III. If we were an animal, we would be a tortoise. If we were a drug ,we would be DOPE! If we were an invention, we would be the wheel. If we were an object, we would be a U…F…O… If we could play with anyone it would be Questlove or Joni Mitchell. We would like to collaborate with Drake. If we had only one wish, it would be too hard to answer. We would never kill someone, because it’s the right thing to do.

ADVICE

Our word of advice to the reader would be to (we are probably the last persons on earth to give any advice).
