LSD FAZE TIME: Heretic

tim
If you haven’t heard of this guy yet, prepare to be amazed. His productions are completely addictive and so are his dj sets. Heretic is the new solo project of Timothy Clerkin, one half of London duo the Eskimo Twins who have released on labels such as Clouded Vision, Throne of Blood and Wax:On Music. His first solo EP “Geodesic” was released on Days of Being Wild and the second one “A Curse” on Abode. Find out more about him and listen to his tunes!

PAST

My name is Timothy Clerkin. I was born in England and grew up in Lincoln.  When I was a child my idol was Jimmy Hendrix, because he is The Fucking Man and he played guitar left handed, like me. When I was about twenty, I started listening to music predominantly made with electronic instruments. It was then when I realised that was what I wanted to do and decided to give it a go. Since then I have enjoyed every minute of it.

One of my best gigs I played was Renate in Berlin. It was so much fun in there and the atmosphere and people were just amazing. One of the best gigs I have been to was Black Rebel Motorcycle Club in Nottingham years ago. I loved their first two albums, must dig them out when I’m finished here actually.

PRESENT

Now I live in London with my friends. In my house you can find lots of weird instruments that make me look incredibly well travelled, whereas they are in fact all presents from my sister and my refrigerator is usually full with out of date milk. I enjoy smoking and tending to my moustache a lot. I can spend hours fiddling with my guitars. One of my favourite places to visit is my grandfather’s house, because it’s always nice to see my family and he always has a very fine selection of Whiskey available.

On weekdays I work and on weekends I usually work and party.

My favourite song at the moment is No Medicine For Regret by Mogwai. A film I watched lately and really liked was The Grand Budapest Hotel. The last series I watched and loved was the American version of House of Cards. I am very inspired by science. I love human achievement and hate religion and all forms of superstition passionately. I am addicted to watching Christopher Hitchens debate on youtube, I just cannot stop watching him utterly destroy all his opponents once I’ve started.

I get totally fucked up when I think about how large the universe is and how small and insignificant our little planet and brief existence is. The next day I need to remind myself to get on and make the most of what we have.

Local Suicide reminds me of school.

FUTURE

Tomorrow I will be very hungover from having a jolly good time at Todd Terje tonight celebrating the anniversary of the other Eskimo Twin’s birth. Next month I will make some more music. Next year, the same. In 10 years I hope to continue to have a wonderful life full of wonderful people.

HYPOTHESES

If I wasn’t a DJ/Producer I would be a drummer.

If my life was a Hollywood movie, Tom Hardy would have the main role, because I have a huge mancrush on him and will take any opportunity possible to liken myself to him.  If I could have sex with anyone, it would be Portia de Rossi circa 2003.

If I was a car, I would be a E-Type Jaguar in British Racing Green. If I was an animal, I would be a Minotaur. If I was a drug I would be confused. If I was an invention, I would be a poorly made and cheap Swiss Army knife. If I was an object, I would be a Gretsch White Falcon. If I could date myself, I would take me to a drum shop.

If I could play with anyone it would be Josh Homme. I would like to collaborate with Aphex Twin.

If I had only one wish, it would be to disable human capacity to be unkind.

I would never say never because you don’t know what’s around the corner.

ADVICE

My word of advice to the reader would be not listen to or trust anyone that claims to know the entire truth, they don’t.
