My name is Joachim Pastor but you might know me as Joachim Pastor. I was born in France and grew up in Versailles. When I was a child my idol was Daft Punk because the music was outstanding. ‘Discovery’ is the album I listened to the most in my life. When I was a tiny child I started learning music in the conservatory. It was then when I realised that I just wanted to do the music I wanted and decided to learn how to create my own music, the way I wanted with a computer. Since then I have been working relentlessly on music, making my life revolve around it. One of my best gigs I played was DGTL festival. It was so much fun as I played on a mainstage which was amazing, and then I played in a tiny secret stage (100 people capacity) and the atmosphere was amazing. I’ve rarely felt so connected to the crowd. I was supposed to do a 1h30 set and I ended up playing for 2h30.
One of the best gigs I have been to was Jean Michel Jarre’s concert in Versailles when I was 5 years old. I loved the giant dinosaur skeletons dancing and the gigantic screens. I still remember it.
Now I live in Versailles with my wife and our dog. In my house you can find a professional studio, a race car, a CNC milling machine and a crazy German shepherd, My refrigerator is usually full with cheese and saucisson. I enjoy engineering things and making music a lot. I can spend hours on a project, for example changing 2500 capacitors in my studio console. It took hundreds of hours, but I’ve got OCD so it’s ok.
One of my favorite places to visit is Versailles Palace’s garden because it’s the best place on earth. On weekdays I work non stop on music and also on more ‘tangible’ projects like mechanic, engineering and on weekends I usually tour around the world and wait in line at the airport.
A film I watched lately and liked was Interstallar. The last series I watched and loved was Better Call Saul. The last book I read was ‘Versailles des jardins vers ailleurs’ by Vincent Beurtheret. I am very inspired by anything beautiful. My dream is to live in the year 1226. My worst nightmare is ‘Idiocrazy’. I love loyalty and hate liars. I am addicted to making noise. I just cannot stop worrying about the future. I get totally fucked up when I have to deal with french administration. The next day I need to see a neurologist.
Local Suicide reminds me of zebras.
Tomorrow I will make another track. Next month I will make more music. Next year I will release my first album, it’s the project we are working on at the moment. In 10 years I hope to be the king of France, as good as Saint-Louis.
If I wasn’t a musician, I would be a lawyer, engineer or house builder. If my life was a Hollywood movie, Steve Carell would have the main role because that’s what she said. If I could have sex with anyone, it would be my wife. If I was a car, I would be a caterham seven. If I was an animal, I would be a rescue dog. If I was a drug I would be a TV.
If I was an invention I would be an engine. If I was an object I would be a letter. If I could date myself I wouldn’t. If I could play with anyone it would be Daft Punk. I would like to collaborate with Royksopp. If I had only one wish it would be true justice for all. I would never go into space because none of the space programs have answered my mails.
My word of advice to the reader would be to put your screen luminosity at the maximum to be able to read properly.
