LOR is Irish producer Gregory Ferguson. With releases to his name on Cin Cin, Warm and Exit Strategy, LOR has steadily established himself as a name to keep tabs on. His debut album, Lunar Orbit Rendezvous, confirms the feeling. Inspired by humanity’s ultimate road trip – a rocket propelled journey to the moon – the album is a wonderful ride through electro, cosmic electronica and star-gazing ambience and if Space X end up getting their shit together, we sure hope this one will be making its way onto the playlist. We hit up LOR to find out a bit more about the man behind the acronym. Read along and grab Lunar Orbit Rendezvous on vinyl or digital.

My name is Gregory Ferguson but you might know me as LOR. I was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland and grew up in Cumbria (England) and Belfast. When I was a child my idol was Jimi Hendrix, because he could really wail (on the guitar). When I was 15, I started trying to become an engineer. It was then I realised that having a “job” job wasn’t for me and decided to take a different approach. Since then I took up music.

One of the best gigs I played was Nitsa in Barcelona. It was so much fun to play there and have tapas.
One of the best gigs I have been to was Erol Alkan at Shine, Belfast. I loved the way he stood on the decks and drank from a bottle of vodka while The Stooges blared out of the PA.

Now I live in Saintfield (near Belfast) with my wife and children. In my house you can find records, pictures, toys and my refrigerator is usually full with cheese, milk and beer. I enjoy being outside and also using my synthesisers, a lot. I can spend hours – if time is indeed money. One of my favorite places to visit is The Mourne Mountains, because it is a place apart.

On weekdays I work, take my kids to school, etc and on weekends I usually hang out with my family or DJ.

My favorite song at the moment is Palms Trax – High Point On Low Ground. A film I watched lately and really liked was Ex-Machina. The last series I watched and loved was Humans.

I am very inspired by technology, life (external and internal forces). My dream is to do this. My worst nightmare is confinement.

I love beauty and hate arrogance.

I am addicted to nothing major… maybe thinking, I just cannot stop believing.

I get totally fucked up, when I try too hard. The next day I need to chill, man.

Local Suicide reminds me of zebras.

Tomorrow I will carry on working on this track I have on the go. Next year it will be 2019. In 10 years I hope we’re all still here.

If I wasn’t a man, I would be a woman.

If my life was a Hollywood movie, Patrick Stewart would have the main role, because that would mean I might get to meet him.

If I could have sex with anyone, it would be nice.

If I was a car, I would be a 80’s VW camper van. If I was an animal, I would be a cuttlefish. If I was a drug I would be aspirin. If I was an invention, I would be a moon buggy. If I was an object, I would be a piece of cheese. If I could date myself, I wouldn’t bother.

If I could play with anyone it would be nice. I would like to collaborate with Roman Flügel.

If I had only one wish, it would be to create a more even distribution of wealth/resources in the world, obvs :).

I would never say never, because I like to keep my options open.

My word of advice to the reader would be to go and do something else now…
