My name is Paolo Rocco Cannizzaro but you might know me as Paolo Rocco. I was born in 1986 and grew up in Montreal. When I was a child my idol was Wayne Gretzky & Michael Jackson, because Wayne’s nick name is “The Great One” and MJ is pure greatness.. When I was about 16ish, I started spinning records. It was then when I realised that I wasn’t good at it but really wanted to be and decided to work my ass off. Since then I luckily haven’t had to work a day job.
One of the best gigs I played was a Real Tone party in Paris. It was one of the first times I played internationally and was the first time i played a label showcase as part of a crew.
One of the best gigs I have been to was: Any time I’ve stepped foot in Fabrik. I loved the vibe (as cliche as it sounds).
Now I live in Montreal and Berlin. In my house you can find records, speakers, lots of wires, lots of dust and lots of love and my refrigerator is usually full with the best damn prosciutto you will ever eat. I enjoy socializing and eating a lot. I can spend hours talking. One of my favorite places to visit is New York, because as much as I’ve been nearly a million times I’m always just as impressed..
On weekdays I produce music during the day, make sweet love at night and on weekends I usually shop at Ikea in the mornings (even if it’s just for the 1$ soft served ice cream), build Ikea furniture in the afternoon, and party heavily at night to de-stress myself from doing it yourself furniture.
My favorite song at the moment is: Very hard to say but aside from all the dubby house music I’m into you can usually hear some old school Hip-Hop, RnB, Funk & Soul playing in my apartment. A film I watched lately and really liked was: As much as it’s an old movie (1973), I recently watched Mean Streets featuring the young Robert De Niro directed by the dynamic Martin Scorsese. The last series I watched and loved was: I recently did an Entourage marathon and loved every second of Ari Gold. What a legend..
I am very inspired by people who are courageous enough to speak the truth. My dream is to succeed with my homies, it’s not going to be fun if I do it all alone.. My worst nightmare is being on my death bead and having regrets..
I love brunch and hate that dog filter on snapchat some girls are addicted too.
I am addicted to attention, I just cannot stop the ladies from falling in love with me.
I get totally fucked up, when I eat too much dairy. The next day I need to buy more air fresheners.
Local Suicide reminds me of driving coast side from LA to San Francisco top down with a girl I just met.
Tomorrow I start on a nice clean up for my whole music library. Next month plan for the launch of my label based after a local party / brand “RAWMoments” I do with long time buddies of mine. Next year focus more on touring. In 10 years I hope I stay as content as I am now.
If I wasn’t a DJ / producer, I would be an entrepreneur.
If my life was a Hollywood movie, it would be Batman, because I’m very mysterious. If I could have sex with anyone, it would be Oprah Winfrey.
If I was a car, I would be a 1986 Ferrari Testarossa. If I was an animal, I would be a liger. If I was a drug I would be sugar. If I was an invention, I would be the wheel. If I was an object, I would be a vibrator. If I could date myself, I would.
If I could play with anyone, I would play a game of Cards Against Humanity with the Pope.. I would like to collaborate with Kerri Chandler, MAW, Pharrell Williams, Daft Punk, Hans Zimmer, Kanye West….
If I had only one wish, it would be for humans to be incapable of being greedy..
I would never release cookie cutter music, because quality over quantity.
My word of advice to the reader would be to do what you love because memories is all you’ll have at the end.
