Rikslyd is a solo project by Norwegian Diis Paradiis. The artist is based in Paris.
The self invented genre “Champagne Electro” explains well the sound universe of minimal pop tracks, awkward sexiness, electronic ambient vibes and clever lyrics.
In September 2012 Rikslyd released her 2nd album, Ecotone (label: Tsunami Addiction). The word ecotone was coined from a combination of eco(logy) plus -tone, from the Greek tonos or tension – in other words, a place where ecologies are in tension. An ecotone is a transition area between two biomes but different patches of the landscape, such as forest and grassland; and describes with these words the musical transitions present in this album.
The fashion world has particularly shown appreciation for the style; brands like Stella McCartney, Quentin Veron, Devastee, Vintiania, Eric Bompard, Sephora, Andrea Crews and Collette, to mention some.
Rikslyd is also producing music for and is a member of the performance group House of Drama, which includes artists and stylists like Ylva Falk with a strong link to style and nightlife.
Also seen weekly DJ’ing under the name Diis Paradiis at numerous essential clubs, bars and events.
Here is an interactive interview that we made with her:
My name is Diis aka Rikslyd.
I was born in Norway and grew up by a fjord.
When I was a child my idol was Michael Jackson, because he was such a wonder I wasn’t even certain he was human.
My friend said he was a woman. Anyway, I was astonished.
When I was 27, I started getting really fed up with my life.
It was then when I realised that I had to leave my job and decided to quit to make something else out of my time.
Since then I have been feeling much better.
One of my best gigs I played was in Berlin, for CreamCake. It was so much fun and different from the Paris crowd and they were dancing and being very hot!
One of the best gigs I have been to was Erykah Badu. I loved every second.
Now I live in Paris with myself. In my house you can find me, and my refrigerator is usually full with cold air, that’s basically it.
I enjoy series and movies a lot. I can spend hours if I don’t pay attention.
One of my favorite places to visit is the bathroom, because I’m quite self-aware.
On weekdays I see my girlfriend Josefin and on weekends I usually DJ and party.
My favorite song at the moment is When Sly Calls by Michael Franks. A film I watched lately and really liked was Jane Austen’s Book Club. The last series I watched and loved was 2 Broke Girls. I am very inspired by the ocean.
I love to love and hate fighting. I am addicted to pizza, I just cannot stop wanting it.
I get totally fucked up, when I go to Les Souffleurs. The next day I need to eat more pizza.
Local Suicide reminds me of nothing, but then I googled it. Now I know.
Tomorrow I am being a good girl. Next month I am being a better person. Next year I’ll be someone’s wife. In 10 years I hope to be the happiest woman alive.
If I wasn’t a fake blond, I would be a brunette.
If my life was a Hollywood movie, I would have the main role, because I would absolutely love to play in a feature film.
If I could have sex with anyone, it would be Kate Winslet or Joe Manganiello….!
If I was a car, I would be a Range Rover. If I was an animal, I would be a dolphin.
If I was a drug I would be codeine. If I was an invention, I would be the pizza.
If I was an object, I would be a sex object. If I could date myself, our relation would be complicated.
If I could play with anyone it would be Kate Bush. I would like to collaborate with Enya.
If I had only one wish, it would be to always know what’s best to do in any given situation.
I would never brag about knowing best, because that would probably make me a very lonely smart ass.
My word of advice to the reader would be to carpe diem.
