LSD FAZE TIME: Robert Dietz

robertdbannerYou will probably know him either from his uplifting tech house productions, that he has been releasing over the past few years on respected labels such as Cadenza, Saved, Be Chosen, Cécille, Deep Vibes Recordings and Running Back, or his crazy dj sets. He has also amazing production work to display for the likes of artists like Luciano, Nic Fanciulli, Loco Dice, Davide Squillace and Reboot. Frankfurt based Robert Dietz is definitely doing it the right way and that’s why we wanted to know more about him!

My name is Robert Jochim but you might know me as Robert Dietz. I was born in Wiesbaden and grew up in Mainz. When I was a child my idol was McGiver, because he made a rocket-powered harpoon gun out of cleaning fluid, telescope, moth balls and a rope. When  I was old enough to understand that this is absurd bullshit, I started being hooked by music and the way it was made. It was then when I realised that you can attract way more girls with being a rock star than inventing ridiculous items for emergency situations and decided to spend all the money my parents gave me for records, CDs and music equipment. Since then I got deeper in the matter and over the years I finally became a DJ.

Now I live in Frankfurt with my girlfriend, a decent amount of friends and my record collection. In my house you can find dust, art, fresh fruits, my studio equipment, a various number of white sneakers and my refrigerator is usually full with coconut water and sake. I enjoy playing playstation and doing a lot of sport. I can spend hours listening to music and wasting time on the internet. One of my favorite places to visit is The Maldives, because the water there has the same colour like the gatorade we used to drink when we were stoned.

On weekdays I try to catch up on emails, keep everybody around me happy and work in the studio and on weekends I usually visit the airports around the globe and DJ here and there.

My favorite song at the moment is Tuccillo – City Lights. A film I watched lately and really liked was Moneyball because I played baseball when I was a kid. The last series I watched and loved was of course… Homeland.

I am very inspired by all different kinds of music made with soul. My dream is to keep going my way and being successful in what I believe in. My worst nightmare is missing a flight.

I love sunshine and hate rain.

I am addicted to fresh juice and corn chips, I just cannot stop taking care of my health.

I get totally fucked up, when I’m out with my friends. The next day I need to get pampered by the food delivery service.

Tomorrow I will go to the hairdresser. Next month I’m on vacation. Next year I will be in the resident advisor top 100 poll. In 10 years I hope I will still be answering these interviews.

If I wasn’t a DJ, I would be a bored dude in a suit.
If my life was a Hollywood movie, Jeremy Piven would have the main role, because I would love to have an agent cursing like him.
If I could have sex with anyone, it would be… a gentleman never tells.
If I was a car, I would be an Audi A5 Coupé.
If I was an animal, I would be a Panda, everybody loves them, no!?
If I was a drug I would be like ecstasy, just with an endless peak…
If I was an object, I would be a timeless piece of art of course.
If I could date myself, I would bring a ring.
If I had only one wish, it would be to restore our damaged nature.

My word of advice to the reader would be to under promise, over deliver!
