LSD Faze Time: Samuel Berdah (Club Bizarre / Days Of Being Wild)

Samuel Berdah

Samuel Berdah has many irons in the fire. When he is not in the studio or on tour with his project Club Bizarre (with Philippe Binda), he is co-running Days Of Being Wild one of the most respected label in the scene. It was about time to find out more things about him, like his love for fromage blanc and dogs and what happens when he drinks gin.

PAST

My name is Samuel Berdah but you might know me as Half of the Dj duo Club Bizarre and also Days of Being Wild. I was born in a small yet beautiful town called Metz and grew up in Metz. Actually never moved! When I was a child my idol was Beastie Boys, because my older brother was a fan. Well I don’t know who’s the hero now.. When  I was 18, I started maths and physics studies. It was then when I realised that I didn’t want to be an engineer or a teacher or whatever you can do following that path and decided to work in my father’s restaurant. Since then I have worked my ass off and recently decided to focus on music!

One of the best gigs I played was without a doubt the Sport Club night in Charada with Javi Redondo. It was so much fun after having dinner in one of the best restaurant ever and people were very open minded and welcoming.
One of the best gigs I have been to was Zombie Zombie on their “Rituel d’un nouveau monde” tour. I loved how the two drummers managed to play along a drum machine, and of course Etienne Jaumet behind all his machines!

PRESENT

Now I live in Metz with old neighbours. In my house you can find traditional arabic records, a polaroid SX70 camera and my studio and my refrigerator is usually full with vegetables, fromage blanc, sausage and beer mainly.. I enjoy going to the pub with friends and talk about nothing for hours a lot. I can spend hours on pretty much everything. One of my favorite places to visit is London, because this city attracts me and also François (who I run Days of Being Wild with) lives there.

On weekdays I try to avoid Facebook and stay focus in the studio and on weekends I usually hang out with friends or play gigs.

My favorite song at the moment is Hand clapping Song by The Meters. A film I watched lately and really liked was Imitation Game. The last series I watched and loved was Spotless.

I am very inspired by all the talents on the scene right now. My dream is to make a decent living out of music without compromising my integrity! My worst nightmare is being stuck in a reality tv show.

I love dogs and hate Coldplay. I am addicted to fromage blanc, I just cannot stop watching stupid stuff on youtube when it’s time to go to bed.

I get totally fucked up, when I drink Gin. The next day I need to take a paracetamol, drink a lot of water and eat junk food.

Local Suicide reminds me of the night we have together in Berlin recently!

FUTURE

Tomorrow I probably won’t do more than today.. Next month I’ll play the Alfresco festival in Tunbridge Wells with both Club Bizarre and Days of Being Wild live, quite exciting.. Next year I don’t really know yet. In 10 years I hope being as happy as I am right now..

HYPOTHESES

If I wasn’t a musician, I would be a astronaut.
If my life was a Hollywood movie,  Matthew Mcconaughey would have the main role, because he’s one of the best in action right now. If I could have sex with anyone, it would be with the one.
If I was a car, I would be a an English classic car. If I was an animal, I would be a dawwwwwg. If I was a drug I would be whatever people take. If I was an invention, I would be someone’s life project, probably.. If I was an object, I would be a synthesizer, obviously. . If I could date myself, I would definitely go to a nice restaurant.

If I could play with anyone it would be Andrew Weatherall, the godfather of us all.. I would like to collaborate with Todd Terje.

If I had only one wish, it would be being good at answering an interview :)

I would never sign up for a triathlon, because I’m so bad at swimming.

ADVICE

My word of advice to the reader would be to never stop reading LSD.
