LSD FAZE TIME: Sébastien Léger

We are very happy to announce a new series on LSD with interviews of some our favorite established or upcoming artists. It is called LSD FAZE TIME and the artists will have to fill in some gaps. In the end there will be a small story. The first interview is with amazing dj, producer and label manager Sébastien Léger. Sébastien is one of the best artists that France has to offer, his beats are addictive and his label Mistakes Music supplies us with great releases by Mr Léger himself, Jay Lumen, Rodriguez Jr, Gabriel Ananda etc.

My name is Sébastien Léger but you might know me as Sébastien Léger. I was born in an ugly city in the suburb of Paris and grew up in France, everywhere in France.. When I was a child my idol was Michael Jackson, because he was a fucking genius (at that time). When I was 14, I started djing. It was then when I realized that I needed money to buy more vinyls and decided to quit school early, and became resident Dj at 15. Since then I grew up a lot, changed a lot and here I am!

One of my best gigs I played was Igloofest this year in Montreal..It was so much fun to see 10.000 people dancing under -20 degrees and wearing all kind of funky and “has-been” ski combination.
One of the best gigs I have been to was Daft Punk’s Live in their Pyramidshow. I loved the moment at the end where their costumes started flashing all red, I didn’t expect it at all, mental!

Now I live in Amsterdam with my fiancee and our 2 lovely cats.. In my house you can find video games, unhealthy food and lots of cats hair and my refrigerator is usually full with like i said, full of shit. I enjoy playing Neo-Geo games which I collect and sometimes making music a lot. I can spend hours on a track I’m working on or on the internet looking for some great new tunes to play or to sign.. One of my favorite places to visit is Tokyo, because it’s truly amazing, colorful and so different than the rest of the world..

On weekdays I make music, work on the boring emails/paper side of the job and on weekends I usually take planes…… to Dj around the world.

My favorite song at the moment is the whole new Foo Fighters’s album. A film I watched lately and really liked was hmmm… I don’t remember, I’m bad with movies! The last series I watched and loved was Breaking bad, really cool.

I am very inspired by funky music and good weather, shame I live in Amsterdam for the last one. My dream is that America stop ruining dance music.. My worst nightmare is that quality stuff die from crap music and commercial business..

I love not many things and hate a lot of things.

I am addicted to fast food and cigarettes I guess too, I just cannot stop complaining, ‘cos I’m French, but I’m doing MUCH better now, I’m improving a LOT.

I get totally fucked up, when I …… I don’t drink or do drugs, so I don’t get fucked up.. The next day I need to finish a couple of remixes and plan the new releases for Mistakes Music my label.

Local Suicide reminds me of new disco mixed with groovy deep-tech-house.

Tomorrow I ‘ll do the same as today, work on music, break with a few games, clean the dishes, clean my cat’s shits too. Next month is a very busy month with I think 11 gigs everywhere.. Next year I don’t know, the same I guess, but “they” say there is no next year anyway. In 10 years I hope they will find a way to teleport people instead of ruining my back with all those planes..

If I wasn’t a DJ/Producer, I would be a interior architect or something creative.
If I was a car, I would be a Fiat 500 or a Lamborghini. If I was an animal, I would be a dog. If I was a drug I would be food. If I was an invention, I would be teleportator. If I was an object, I would be a TR909 . If I could date myself, I ‘d say wow you’re so cool (who is writing those questions? LOL).

If I could play with anyone, it would be someone who knows exactly my tastes, and so far this person doesn’t exist, but I can adjust myself without any problem, so I’d choose Marco Carola. I would like to collaborate with Format:B.

If I had only one wish, it would be to be happy, I guess.

I would never make commercial music for money under an alias, because you need to like and believe in what you do, and unfortunately, I do not like shit.

My word of advice to the reader would be to not take everything I said to seriously (or not).
