LSD FAZE TIME: Shadow Child

One of our most favorite producers this year is Southsea-based Shadow Child. He made his debut via Dirtybird (Justin Martin, Claude VonStroke) early 2012, mostly thanks to the EP's lead track 'String Thing' dominating Eats Everything and Claude VonStroke's DJ sets. This new alias for one of House music's already known names has turned down an exciting path with underground bass-led grooves filled with all the quirks and depth you'd expect in the cooler rooms around the globe. Besides winning the 'Best Remix' category in the Best Of British DJ Awards with his freakmix for S.K.A.M.'s 'I Got What You Need' (listen below) he also charted #1 in the iTunes Dance Charts as part of the Moda Black Compilation which was mixed by Jaymo & Andy George.

Don't miss this dude when he stops by in your city, read our FAZE TIME and listen to his latest tracks below!

My name is Simon but you might know me as Shadow Child. I was born in England and grew up in Portsmouth. When I was a child my idol was anyone musically 'electronic', because I was obsessed with weird noises. When  I was using my previous alias, I started to wonder what I was doing musically. It was then when I realised that it was best to stay true to myself and decided to start making music as Shadow Child. Since then I haven't looked back.

One of my best gigs I played was Moda's basement party in Lincoln, UK. It was so much fun and so loud that the tiled walls were cracking and the dj booth had thick black cobwebs draped from the ceiling.

One of the best gigs I have been to was Orbital this year. I loved the fact it was in the Royal Albert Hall.

Now I live in Southsea UK with my wife Nina. In my house you can find 3 mental cats and my refrigerator is usually full with Gin + Tonic. I enjoy Greek food and I also talk a lot. I can spend hours doing interviews, but this one is very refreshing. One of my favorite places to visit is New York, because of the bagels on the corner of W58th and 9th.

On weekdays I make music and on weekends I usually play music.

My favorite song at the moment is Benediction. A film I watched

lately and really liked was anything by Wes Anderson. The last series I watched and loved was Curb your enthusiasm.

I am very inspired by Drum & Bass, circa 1993. My dream is to produce albums for others. My worst nightmare is being anywhere near wasps.

I love those Samsung TV's with no edges and hate how BMW have ruined the 3 series.

I am addicted to Fanta Limon, I just cannot stop passing wind in a melodic fashion.

I get totally fucked up, when I drink coffee. The next day I need to spend alot of time in the bathroom.

Local Suicide reminds me of the best way to do interviews.

Tomorrow I will do nothing, as it's Sunday. Next month I have 2 releases out. One is on Apollo, legendary sister label to R&S. Next year it's 2013, year of the snake (apparently). In 10 years I hope BMW have fixed the front end of the 3 series.

If I wasn't a producer, I would be an architect.

If my life was a Hollywood movie, Bill Murray would have the main role, because  I'd refuse everyone else until he did it. If I could have sex with anyone, it would be anyone who'd get past my mrs.. nobody.. even if I wanted to.

If I was a car, I would be a BMW M3 (with the E92 front). If I was an animal, I would be a cat, only if I could hang out with my cats still. If I was a drug I would be Lemsip. 'swallow or dissolve'?. If I was an invention, I would be a teleport for DJ's. If I was an object, I would be a spoon. If I could date myself, I would cancel at the last minute.

If I could play with anyone it would be tennis with Boris Becker. I would like to collaborate with Damon Albarn.

If I had only one wish, it would be for people to value the music industry again.

I would never take drugs, because I get my buzz elsewhere.

My word of advice to the reader would be to keep reading Local Suicide, for real.
