This guy is a music genius. A electronic music producer with a classical training at the Royal Academy for Art, Music and Drama in Glasgow, who has an immense music knowledge and an incredibly good taste in music. We had the chance to take an interview with him. Vincent I. Watson’s 8th studio album entitled “Serene” came out in February on Pyramids of Mars. Matt Edwards aka Radio Slave selected this Album to be the second release on his new imprint dedicated to the cutting edge of audio and visual art.
This brings a new turn to Watson’s career with music for TV and Film under his full name: Vincent I. Watson.
The cover image which depicts a girl floating in the air is a picture from a series called “Today’s Levitation” by contemporary Japanese artist and photographer Natsumi Hayashi.
Listening to Vincent’s album you might notice a strong resemblance to the works of Steve Reich, Philip Glass or even Hans Zimmer, but with a modern touch to them.
Mature, deep, trippy – many words will be used to describe this album, superlatives will be among them, but “Masterpiece“ is rarely so fitting as it is here.
My name is Vincenzo but you might know me as Vince Watson. I was born in Science Lab and grew up in Circus.. When I was a child my idol was clearly wasted on LSD, because his music wasn’t from this planet. When I was 7, I started reading about Quantum Mechanics. It was then when I realised that I had no chance of ever understanding it and decided to make music instead. Since then I have recorded 8 albums, over 100 records and over 50 remixes for 25 different labels.
One of my best gigs I played was totally illegal in a field at Glasgow Airport in a barn. It was so much fun because the Police couldn’t raid the property as it was private land and we partied on the edge of the runway for 10 hours.
One of the best gigs I have been to was cancelled due to raining fruit. I loved the pineapples.
Now I live in a hut with a poltergeist. In my house you can find the keys as i locked myself out and my refrigerator is usually full with space and emptiness. I enjoy cooking fresh air and lobsters a lot. I can spend hours in a dutch supermarket looking yeast. One of my favorite places to visit is the toilet, because of my yeast intolerance.
On weekdays I go fishing and on weekends I usually come back from fishing.
My favorite song at the moment is just finished, love that tune.. A film I watched lately and really liked was pretty good actually, pleasantly surprised.. The last series I watched and loved was CI5 – The Professionals.
I am very inspired by lightning. My dream is to conduct electricity from a pylon.. My worst nightmare is yet to come..
I love washing dishes and hate putting them away.
I am addicted to wasabi, I just cannot stop snorting it.
I get totally fucked up, when I sneeze. The next day I need to set my alarm for the night before.
Local Suicide reminds me of broken legs..
Tomorrow I will pray for the yesterday we will be promised tonight.. Next month i will start talking backwards in my sleep. Next year the timespace rift in time starts and most of us will fall down it. In 10 years I hope to see the end of the term EDM.
If I wasn’t a carpet cleaner, I would be a carpet salesman.
If my life was a Hollywood movie, it would win an oscar for comedy. I would have the main role, because nobody can do me better than me.. If I could have sex with anyone, it would be a bonus.
If I was a car, I would be an Alfa Romeo. If I was an animal, I would be a coelacanth. If I was a drug I would be Psilocybin. If I was an invention, I would be a eureka moment. If I was an object, I would be a transporter bay. If I could date myself, I would be late..
If I could play with anyone it would be Chesney
Hawkes. I would like to collaborate with the other side of my brain sometimes..
If I had only one wish, it would be for another 5 wishes..
I would never not do something that I said I would do which is much better to do than to say you wont do something that you actually end up doing, because you end up doing something you said you wouldn’t do instead of saying you would do something and end up not doing it..
My word of advice to the reader would be to take a deep breath….
