The California-based band Simon James & Dan Hastie, better known as Woolfy vs Projections is back with a their third album ‚Stations‘ which was released via Permanent Vacation on Aug 21, 2015. Their new long player is, like the two previous albums is loosely based on the adventures of the lost astronaut Captain Starlight, who is the hero in a Zazu track, a notorious Balearic rock classic which also set the bench mark for the sound of Woolfy vs Projections: a deep Balearic twilight vibe combined with a classic west coast sound, dubbed disco, beard rock and a heavy funk bounce. The duo took the time to answer our LSD FAZE TIME.

Our names are Simon James and Dan Hastie but you might know us as Woolfy Vs Projections.
We were born in UK and L.A. respectively and grew up in Los Angeles in the San Fernando Valley.
In our childhood our idols were Bowie, MJ, Run DMC, Beastie Boys, because they were artists that broke boundaries.

We met in San Fernando Valley, L.A, the 818… at Scotland Yard Pub in Canoga Park and had a few pints, listened to some of Dan’s foot porn beats. In the pub we decided to start making beats together as well as to start a rock-steady band and had a few more pints. Since then we have had more pints, put out 5 albums spanning back to 2002 with our first Projections record Between Here and Now.

One of the best gigs we played was in Mexico City for our frend Jorge Bof. It was so much fun because we had all the perks , great sound and the crowd new most of our tracks. One of the best gigs we have been to was Tony Allen back in the early 2000′ … We loved the introduction of Afrobeat back into the electronic world.

Now we live in Ojai and North Hollywood California with our minds. We meet every time we need to get away and have a good laugh.
We never argue. We’re very similar people and like the chill life. Drama’s for the theatre, but then we go get some pints and abuse each other like brothers.
We enjoy Food, Mezcal, Cooking, Music, Wine.. (is this a dating site?) and Girls a lot. We can spend hours in the studio. One of our favorite places to visit is Marseilles, because you can get Frois Grois for hella cheap and we don’t like geese, we’ve also got good peeps there.
On weekdays we‘re either traveling or working in Ojai and on weekends we usually work.
Our favorite songs at the moment are the Mark Ronson tune with the dude from Tame Impala, and being on the road we’ve heard so much new music, it’s hard to keep up.
Some films we watched lately and liked were What We Do In The Shadows, hilarious.. Birdman.
The last series we watched and loved was Louis CK always kills it, Key and Peele, and The Eric Andre show.
We are very inspired by the soulful parts of life.
Our dream is to play a show so amazing that we instantly have a cult following where all our desires are met.
Our worst nightmare all our desire are met.
We love making beats, creating food and the occasional highly competitive table tennis match and hate loosing.
We get totally fucked up when we hang out together, which happens to be quite frequently.

Tomorrow we are going to Switzerland to rock a couple parties.
Next month we are working on our new project, Mezcal Valley Boys which you can check out at
Next year we‘re looking to hit the festival circuit and get into some more mischief.
In 10 years we hope to be minted, seriously fucking minted.

If we weren’t music makers, we would be nothing.
If we were a car, we would be a 1967 Cadillac El Dorado.
If we were an animal, we would be pretty happy being a human actually, top of the food chain.
If we were a drug, we would be Heroin, imagine how many people would be addicted to our music.
If we were an invention, we would be light.
If we were an object, we would be quite happy being in motion.
If we could date ourselves, we wouldn’t do that, very dangerous.
If we could play with anyone it would be Sade.
We would like to collaborate with Sade.
If we had only one wish, it would be Sade.
We would never disrespect Sade, because she’s Sade.

Our word of advice to the reader would be to not take us too seriously.
