My name is Jan Blomqvist but you might know me as Jan Blomqvist but everybody calls me Giorgio. I was born in a crossfire hurricane and grew up in the middle of nowhere in the north of Germany next to Hamburg. When I was a child my idol was Mick Jagger. When I was 10, I started teaching myself to play guitar. It was then when I realised that I wanna become a professional musician and decided to found my first band. Since then I switched to all genres like grunge, punk, metal, pop, and finally electro.
One of my best gigs I played was a solo show at Robot Heart Bus at Burning Man and a band concert at Fusion Festival Turmbühne (Main Stage). It was so much fun to play a sunrise set in the desert with thousands of people who were already or still awake in the morning and the sound system was absolutely massive.
One of the best gigs I have been to was the Radiohead Open air concert in Berlin’s Wuhlheide or every Moderat concert. I loved their perfect sound designs and their breathtaking perfection in their live shows.
Now I live in Berlin with my best friends. In my house you can find nothing except a bed and a sofa, I love it very puristic. My gear is all in my studio and my refrigerator is usually full with vegetables, especially tomatoes. I enjoy hiking into the wild mountains and cooking or having delicious veggie dinners with friends a lot. I can spend hours on walking through streets thinking about everything & nothing. One of my favourite places to visit is Corsica, because the combination of extrem wild high mountains with dream beaches and the mediterranean life style is the best.
On weekdays I work in my studio or try to relax and in the evenings I hang with my best friends if i have time and on weekends I usually play 3 gigs.
My favourite song at the moment is every track from Stephan Bodzin. A film I watched lately and really liked was no idea, i am always too tired to watch a whole movie. The last series I watched and loved were Fargo season 1 & True Detective season 1.
I am very inspired by Radiohead, Moderat, Stephan Bodzin and Bob Dylan (Lyrics). My dream is to have a house in the european wild mountains and create beautiful dinner parties in my flower garden at least twice a week. My worst nightmare is loosing my ears, my mind or my passion.
I love life and hate people who destroy life or flow.
I am addicted to sleeping, I just cannot stop everything. Whenever I start something I don’t wanna stop anymore. Even when I do nothing I don’t wann stop doing nothing.
I get totally fucked up, when I have to wake up on an alarm clock. I can stay awake for days if it is needed in my job, but I can not live without healthy sleep. The next day I need to sleep all day long and eat healthy stuff.
Local Suicide reminds me of a cool blog for electronic music.
Tomorrow I play my last gig of my my USA Tour in Brooklyn. Thanks to everybody who suported me at Coachella, in San Fancisco, LA and New York. Next month I take a months off to work in my studio and to detox before the festival summer in Europe will try to kill me again. Next year is too far, I try to live for the moment. In 10 years I hope I will be still healthy, strong in mind and live in the wild mountains with my family.
If I wasn’t a music producer or live act, I would be a math teacher, a famous graffiti painter or an astronaut.
If my life was a Hollywood movie, from Dusk Till Dawn would have the main role. If I could have sex with anyone, it would be Marion Cotillard, Emma Stone, Thom Yorke and my girlfriend.
If I was a car, I would be a Tesla. If I was an animal, I would be a Sloth or an Owl, not sure. If I was a drug I would be Molly. If I was an invention, I would be speakers. If I was an object, I would be a time machine. If I could date myself, I would invite me for a roadtrip to the south of France.
If I could play with anyone it would be Moderat. I would like to collaborate with Stephan Bodzin.
If I had only one wish, it would be world peace, of course. Then i would want to live forever.
I would never be happy without my music and my friends, because that’s all I am.
My word of advice to the reader would be to work hard but never forget to enjoy the moment.
