LSD presents: X-MIX by !K7 rewind Berlin to the 90’s

!K7 records presents the return of one of the cornerstones in Techno, as the prolific X-MIX audio-visual series returns to berlin. The X-MIX rewind on 25th October at Stattbad Wedding fuses 20 years of club culture with its stellar line-up of techno deity John Acquaviva, leading the ‘new generation’ contingent of Derek Plaslaiko, Hrdvision and Marius Reisser and video installation by PussyKrew.

Headlining the premiere of the two X-MIX events is self proclaimed “Traditional DJ” John Acquavida who has been heavily involved in the Techno scene and all the technological advances that came with it for over 20 years. The Plus8 records and Distinctive Records founder describes X-MIX “as a phenomenon at the time” but still extremely relevant today ,”The performance aspect, great visuals are more important than ever“ says Acquaviva.

An idea that was always centred on innovation, X-MIX is the creation of !K7 label founder Horst Weidenmüller and was a pivotal element of the 90’s Techno movement. A passion for independent art forms and culture inspired Weidenmüller to create visuals to accompany the vibrant club scene that was emerging in Berlin with clubs like Tresor and E-Werk propelling the confluence East and West.

“At that time, if you went to a club, the only visuals were strobes and coloured lights,” explains Weidenmüller. “We started the first computer animated video. The basic idea was that the music was coming out of computers, so the visuals should come out of computers as well.” Inadvertently becoming the first mix CD series, with a DJ at the helm of each mix, the videos appeared everywhere from MTV to illegal warehouse raves, fortified by an illustrious list of DJs including Dave Angel, Dave Clarke, Hardfloor, DJ Hell, John Acquaviva Ken Ishii, Kevin Saunderson, Mr C, Laurent Garnier, Richie Hawtin and Paul Van Dyk.

A multi-dimensional, sensory experience is a promise of the event, with digital art collective PussyKrew displaying their “glitchy punk visual” interpretations of the X-MIX video samples.

A showcase of the old and new, innovation and heritage. X-MIX takes you back to the future.

X-MIX Part II will again host a mega line-up of Dave Clarke, Objekt, Marius Reisser & guest from Ostgut Ton soon to be revealed with visuals by PussyKrew on November 22.
