Every year in France, 216,000 women aged 18 to 75 experience either physical and/or sexual violence by an intimate or ex-partner and 86,000 women are victims of attempted or completed rape, that it to say a woman raped every forty minutes.
In 2014, 134 women were killed by their spouse or ex-spouse.
In 2008, an estimated 60,000 women have experienced some form of female genital mutilation (FGM) in France. One third were practiced on the French territory.
8 in 10 women with a disability experience domestic violence. Casual sexism at work affects about 80% of women.
Violence against women costs the French economy an estimated €2.5 billion every year.
CONTRE COUPS gathers 12 female artists, musicians, singers and composers who speak out about violence against women and remind that women are also keys actors in this struggle.
The digital compilation of 12 eclectic tracks (rock, electro, hip hop, pop, folk…) will be available on Bandcamp on November, 25, 2015, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.
All proceeds will be donated to the Institut en Sante Genesique .
Created in January 2014, this unique center in France, located in Saint-Gemain-en-Laye (Yvelines), offers counselling, support and medical assistance to women victims of all forms of violence.
Run by Frederique Martz and fostered by comedian Florence Foresti, the institute works only with 21 unpaid workers. The co-founder, Dr. Pierre Foldes, is specialized in clitoral reconstructive surgery and has already performed successful surgery on more than 6,000 victims of FGM.
