New Video: Lena Willikens – Howlin Lupus

If you haven’t heard about Lena Willikens until now, you don’t know what you’re missing. Lena is a Cologne-based DJ and producer, whose debut album, Phantom Delia, was recently released by Cómeme, Matias Aguayo’s label.

Howlin Lupus is almost like a soundtrack for a midnight rite of passage, rising steadily from a subtle, quiet prelude towards a more ecstatic string of cathartic beats and wolf howls, only to return to the initial state of things, the same and yet transformed. Minimalistic in its imagery and perfectly matching the atmosphere of the song, the video is a collage of works made by Cologne painter and visual artist Sarah Szczesny.

This video is actually part of an ongoing Phantom Delia video series and it’s definitely an audio-visual ceremony which paves the way for new musical explorations. Don’t forget to follow Lena Willikens on her Soundcloud page, to get more of her quirky sounds.
