The Vaccines are a band that has been compared to The Jesus and Mary Chain and The Ramones. Their influences vary among “’50s rock ‘n’ roll, ’60s garage and girl groups, ’70s punk, ’80s American hardcore, C86 and good pop music”.
Worth mentioning is that their first London performance at The Flowerpot in October 2010 included audience from Alex Kapranos to Marcus Mumford, and members of White Lies and The Maccabees, and 200 people had to be turned away, while the performance was described by the Clash as “fantastic, exhilarating and exciting”. Also, Freddie Cowan, the guitarist, is the younger brother of Tom from the Horrors.
The London-based alternative rock band set in June 2010 will release their debut album, What Did You Expect From The Vaccines? on 21 March 2011. The band have signed to Columbia Records, and their second single is “Post Break-Up Sex”, released on 24 January 2011. The Vaccines have also been nominated for an MTV Award for “Best New Band of 2011″.
