For my first post of the year on LSD, let me introduce to you Trailer Trash Tracys, who borrowed the name of a group of Russian strippers of the Stalinist period. One of the most fascinating young bands which will surely turn into a classic for the year to follow.
In September 2009, the group’s first single vinyl came out. Candy Girl / I Wish You Were Red on the small label No Pain In Pop had already grabbed my attention with the greatness of these songs .
This week they released the sublime album “Ester”, and the bomb “You Wish You Were Red” worthy of the best soundtrack of David Lynch with the melancholia of Cocteau Twins’ synths, something between shoegaze and dream pop psychedelic with a touch of Nordic magnetism, through the captivating voice of the beautiful singer Susanne Aztoria, punk northern exile in London.
Here is the premiere of the video for “You Wish You Were Red”, the lead single from their debut album. The video is a haunting and kaleidoscope affair and the perfect accompaniment to the looming melancholy of the track and a remix by James Ferraro for the track “Engelhardt’s Arizona”.
Here you got another remix from one of this year’s most celebrated techno newcomers, Ital (San Francisco producer Daniel Martin-McCormick), fresh from the Not Not Fun imprint 100% Silk. Listen to it here and download for free:
Ester is out now, Jan 9th (UK & EU) on Double Six and you can catch band on tour with the Vaccines in Europe.
