LSD presents: Nouvelle Vague @Principal Club Theatre (Thessaloniki)

Two years after their latest triumphant appearance of Nouvelle Vague in Thessaloniki, Greece, they will be back in a few days! They are appearing with the arrival of the autumn, on September 12th at Principal Club Theater and promise to offer us another unforgettable performance.

The Parisian band is a cover band led by musicians Marc Collin and Olivier Libaux, that began with their first steps in Paris, but soon their reputation exceeded the borders of France. Their name means “new wave” in French. Nouvelle Vague, New Wave, Bossa Nova: these are three words in their respective languages mean exactly the same thing. Three passions that brought together Collin and Libaux in 2003 to engage themselves in the “Frenchness” and “artiness” (the ’60s new wave of the French cinema cult). Their tracks are all covers of punk rock, post-punk, and New Wave songs with the use of ’60s bossa nova-style arrangements.

Nouvelle Vague kept the melodic and timeless compositions of punk and post punk of new wave bands such as Joy Division, Clash, Dead Kennedys, XTC, Cure, Depeche Mode, etc. and made great remakes using simple, acoustic sounds taken back from the style of bossa nova, jazz of the ’50s and pop of 60s.

Members, former members and contributors include many French artists who are now very well known. At the gig in Thessaloniki, the authentic voice of the band Melanie Pain will be accompanied by the magnificent voice of Liset Alea.

The concert opens a new band coming from Thessaloniki ELEKTRAIN for a debut appearance with hot swing and cheerful jazz.
