Frankfurt-based artist Michael Riedel just kicked off a show last week at Palais de Tokyo in Paris, and I couldn’t help but notice his huge “novel” on the DJ booth. That would be ‘Oskar,’ which is Riedel’s latest book devoted to the parties and shows at Oskar-von-Miller Strasse 16 (2000-2011), an art space in Frankfurt. The book is filled with black-and-white party pics of speakers being shoved down the cellar, DJs in British flag blouses and mod-haired guitarists smoking cigarettes (obviously). Thank God, someone always had a camera nearby. In the spirit of Oskar, I took black-and-white photos at Riedel’s latest party, a pop-up installation called Dürer.
Check out Riedel at David Zwirner London until May 31 and at Palais de Tokyo until December 31.
