Review: Deas – Freon EP

Gradually imposing himself as one of Poland’s most interesting Techno producers, with releases on Baroque, Nueva, Bosphorus Underground as well as his own Secret Room Records imprint, Deas is back with his new single Freon.

If the track isn’t half as exciting as his previous 2CB / The Drugs release (covered HERE), Freon manages to keep listeners on their toes, with a wonky sound effect panning out during the whole track, aggressively nagging at our ears like a kid begging for a puppy for Christmas. The “melodic” line proudly stradles a deep groove that manages to be both tense and fully functional, and the track is sure to mess with dancefloor lost souls worldwide.

Malta DJ Malcolm Abdilla AKA Deepfunk puts on the remixers glove and mask and surgically alters the bassline by injecting it with bounce, while simultaneously refrigerating the spirit of the original track by immersing the sweeping pitched effects in swathes of additional production.

Freon will be released on Particles/Proton on November 17th.
