Review: Motuo – Rotation EP

Motuo‘s 3 track EP entitled ‘Rotation‘ is a clear message to those thinking drum machine jams have had their day. All three tracks are layered with spaced out nostalgia inducing synth’s and grooving heavy drum sequences. The bpm of this release places it neatly in the House section however all three tracks are clearly techno inspired, especially the Ultraman track which deftly weaves a subtle acid line through its evolving melodies. Rotation draws more inspiration from electro than anything else with big snare fills and a luscious backdrop of soothing synths. Purple Pulse is a more introspective ‘blue’ sort of track which rolls along nicely with a simple yet ensnaring chord and more spaced out synths. Another super strong release from the We are records label which charts as their 28th release so far. Motuo is going from strength to strength.
