Stream: Bambounou – Orbiting

Hi, I am Bambounou (Jeremy Guindo). I live in Paris, China Town. This is also where I grew up. I am now 22 years old. Orbiting is my debut album.”

With only a handful of 12″s on his name since 2010, Frenchman Bambounou pulls up to 50 Weapons in his ghetto-proof debut album ‘Orbiting’. It’s gotta be the most rapid ascendance of anyone on Modeselektor‘s label, but it certainly doesn’t sound rushed or half-baked: this is a raw yet debonaire sound, equally measured mucky, technoid funk and tucked-in, iced-out swagger.

His sounds are sourced from current and classic Chicago/London/Berlin styles and filtered with a certain Gallic suaveness, taking us from the DVA or Fis-T-like mutant Bass/Haus of ‘Any Other Service’ through the sub-loaded shimmy of ‘Mass’ to rutting technohouse on ‘Data’, juked dopeness with French Fries on ‘Let Me Get’ or Actress-meets-Chain Reaction techno on ‘Splaz’. Together with the tidy synth-terludes and thanks to his robust productions values – subs go all the way down, drums are built to bang on a good system .

You can have a listen to ” Let Me Get (feat. French Fries)” and “Data” here:

and here is a pumping remix to listen ” Darling farah – Fortune ( Bambounou remix)” out on Civil Music:
