Stream: Charlotte Gainsbourg – Hey Joe (Prod. Beck)

charlotte-gainsbourgAnglo-french singer/actress Charlotte Gainsbourg will be starring in next year’s Lars Von Trier’s film Nymphomaniac, but apart from that she will be pitching in to the disputatious film’s soundtrack. Her song is a cover of Hey Joe (first recorded in 1965 and 1966 by The Leaves, The Standells, The Surfaris, Love, The Music Machine, and The Byrds), which was converted into a garage rock classic by Jimi Hendrix. The track is produced by the talented Beck, who worked with Gainsbourg in the past as well (on her albums IRMand Stage Whisper). Charlotte delivers a soughing and shrill version, while Beck leaves his mark with a funky bass line and cool choral flourishes. The track will be released digitally via Because/Elektra on December 16.
