Following up on her 2012 EP I walk to the beat of my Own Drum (Reiz Musik), Paris based producer and DJ Emeraldia Ayakashi has dropped her new EP Wish you were hear on Roch Music. The EP visits the realms of deep-house, tech-house and ambient while always remaining danceable and rather hypnotic throughout with stand-out tracks living at the beginning of the EP in the form of openers Artefact and Body Electric.
Held together by a lazy crunchy guitar lick that weaves its way in and out of the song like a mashed pilot fish in a party at Club der Visionaere, Artefact superimposes layers of sparkly bubbling synths sounds while a simple beat drives the psychedelic energy of the track forward and down in a motion of exploration of new aquatic depths
Body Electric is a stuttering garage groove, with an enigmatic echoeing synth chord progression contemplating from the backseat. Vocals samples inject the track with a dub feel and strangely remind of the early work of producers like Kode9, whose choice of vocal samples manages to add a completely different dimension to songs. Body Electric is the kind of track you wouldn’t really expect on this EP and makes for an interesting piece of musical variety.
EP closers The bird and the bee and title-track Wish you were hear make for a nice addition to any summery soundtracks. Head to Beatport to download the EP and for more music and mixes head to Emeraldia’s Soundcloud.
