Palehound lies behind the 19-year-old singer/songwriter Ellen Kempner of Yonkers, NY. She’s quite talented and the proof is that she’s been writing and performing her own songs since she was 10 years old. Followed by her debut single Pet Carrot, a 90’s influenced track full of moody melodies and disrespectful lyrics about confused and misunderstood emotions of a teenager, Drooler sounds similar to a Veruca Salt or Liz Phair track with a vocal timbre of an old soul. Both are taken from her debut EP Bent Nail, which will be released on October 22nd via Exploding in Sound. It will be available digitally but as a limited edition on cassette too.
“This collection of songs definitely exhibits my uncomfortable shift from teenage-hood to adulthood, and the fact that regardless of what I felt like I should be as an adult, I still felt the same as I did when I was fifteen.” expains Kempner. Check both her tracks below!
