Indie bands from the Pacific Northwest are on the rise, one being Radioactive Girlfriend (RxGF), a Seattle-Brooklyn darkwave group who are gearing up for their fourth release “Any Other Way.” Co-produced by Jonathan Plum (who has worked with Brandi Carlisle and Blind Melon), they’re making noise with nominations galore, as they’ve been on three AIMA Award noinations for best video, best alternative artist and best producer. Spooky and retro, check out the grungy new music video for their lead single How to Make It.
Band member John Morgan Reilly describes their music as: “Imagine the Superstar Destroyer, a monolithic and dirty old space ship several kilometers long lumbering through space at light speed – that’s the feel of these new songs. You have these dark electronic layers with huge drums and dirtied-up vocals. Nothing is clean. The circuitry still works but the protective coating has melted…the wiring is a bit charred up everywhere and that’s by design. The closest to commercial mainstream we get could be likened to Princess Leia and Han Solo operating the Millennium Falcon.”
